Next step involves the two images. As you see the piano image goes through 3 stages: original(1), grayscale(2), and overlay(3).

2. Grayscale
Image -> Mode -> Grayscale If the question "Discard color information?" pops up, click "ok".As soon as you're done, go back to: Image -> Mode -> and choose "RGB Color" this time. |

3.Overlay
First we need a new layout on top of our grayscale image.
Layer -> New -> Layer.. Fill in this new layer with a new foreground color (value: 805349). The overlay option can be found at:
Layer -> Layer style -> Blending options.. Once there, find the "Blend mode" option and choose "Overlay". After you apply the overlay effect, your image should look like the one on the left. |
Go through each of the above steps and apply the overlay effect for the second image as well. The result should look like this:
